Job Summary:

The Materials Lead will report to the Purchasing & Materials Manager and be responsible for leading and supporting multiple facets of the Materials/Inventory group. This position will assist in monitoring inventory receipts, inventory movements, stock levels and replenishment indicators. This individual will work collaboratively with Operations, Shipping, Purchasing, Sales/Customer Service and Quality, to meet and exceed customer expectations. This position will need to provide functional support and lead the team in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) problem resolution, process mapping and system testing and development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Part Number Specialist, Materials Specialist and Production Planner, provide support to the Senior Inventory Control Specialist and Inventory Control Specialist.
  • Ownership and reporting authority of the cycle count program including distributing daily lists and reporting on metrics and performance across the divisions.
  • Create and edit production work orders, inventory transfers and inventory adjustments in accordance with requests and MRP.
  • Provide functional support/direction and lead the team in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) problem resolution, process mapping and system testing and development.
  • Maintain and enhance vendor relationships for all packaging materials.
  • Investigate inventory issues, analyze root causes, and provide solutions.
  • Liaises with department supervisors or other personnel to discuss necessary changes and assess progress to improve productivity in business processes.
  • Review inventory planning parameters and work with Buyers and the Production Planner to recommend safety stock and lot sizes to ensure efficient on-hand inventory.
  • Analyze historical data and business trends to implement efficient and accurate item planning.
  • Review inventory planning parameters such as safety stock and lot sizes, to reduce inventory costs.
  • Assist in attaining specified inventory reduction goals.
  • Review BOM usage and monitor consumption of raw materials.
  • Analyze items to recommend obsolete status.
  • Maintain good working relationships with all department Leads, Supervisors and Managers.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all manufacturing policies and procedures.
  • Participate, lead, when necessary, in the end of the year inventory audit.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 4-year bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3 years of Operations or Supply Chain experience in a manufacturing setting required.
  • Microsoft Excel experience required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Critical thinking and decisions making skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of current processes to make enhancements when necessary.
  • ERP experience preferred; NetSuite experience is a plus.

Authority:

  • Authority to stop any operation for any unsafe condition in accordance with Inpro's Safety Standards.
