The Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products Group Engineering team is looking for a Manager of Converting Engineering. A successful candidate will be able to be able to coach and mentor Team members, understand and develop relationships with facility leadership teams, be able to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and continually seek innovative ways to improve project execution.

This role is a home-based position as part of an engineering and project management organization primarily based in Green Bay, WI. Employee will provide support to our manufacturing facilities and can expect to travel. The amount will vary at times but should not exceed 50% on average per year.


Our Team

This position leads and manages a team of Engineers and Project Managers that develops and executes capital projects within converting for the Tissue, Towel, Napkin and Dixie product streams. This role will travel to locations in the southeast/west coast as business needs dictate. The team leads execution of Projects ranging from $50,000 to 500 million. The position leads the team while also executing projects in the converting area as needed.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and coach a team of project managers and engineers
  • Development and recruitment of team talent
  • Build and grow relationships with internal and external preferred partners.
  • Develop and Execute project investment venture summaries with full responsibility for managing scope, schedule, and estimates while applying judgment, initiative, economic and critical thinking skills.
  • Project management of select projects as needed to support resourcing demands
  • Develop and evaluate investment alternatives that provide the best long-term value creation, coordinating with the Facility, Business, Engineering, Sourcing and Legal teams.
  • Partner with procurement and sourcing teams to align on equipment and construction contracting strategies, including bidding, cost evaluation, selection, and award.
  • Manage third parties including but not limited to outside consultants, contractors, and technical resources.
  • Seek and use best knowledge and proactively share knowledge while embracing challenge to drive innovation.
  • Applying Principle Based Management to drive long term value creation in support of manufacturing and business partners



Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience leading direct reports
  • Project management experience in manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience partnering with different functional groups in an organization including third parties
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time



What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a Science field
  • Experience leading direct reports in a manufacturing, industrial, or project management role.
  • Ten (10) or more years of project management experience
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience managing a team.
  • Paper converting and material handling experience
  • Experience in pulp & paper and/or industrial processes and systems

For this role, we anticipate paying $150k - $200k per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
