Overview

The Center for Family Safety and Healing - Adult Clinician provides assessment and treatment to adults who have experienced intimate partner violence. The clinician works within the context of a multidisciplinary team setting and is responsible for timely reporting, documentation, and participation in treatment and case plan development at the Center. The clinician must possess excellent knowledge of family violence and related systems that influence effective interventions to alleviate traumatic responses, including safety planning, related child protection when children are involved in the family system, law enforcement, prosecution, and victim's advocacy

Responsibilities
    Completes diagnostic assessment with adults presenting to TCFSH with concerns related to intimate partner violence and other family violence experiences.
  • Completes an individual services plan (ISP) consistent with needs identified in the diagnostic assessment and provides counseling services in response to goals and objectives determined in this process.
  • Demonstrates the appropriate use of mental health interventions when working with adults who have experienced intimate partner violence. (Commonly utilized interventions include CBT, CPT, EMDR, MI, and Strengths Based therapy)
  • Provides and documents clinical practice in accordance with TCFSH, Joint Commission, funding agency requirements, safety standards, and other appropriate standards. Maintains timely records.
  • Provides internal and external referrals for related service needs or for adult trauma treatments not available at TCFSH.
  • Works collaboratively with the NCH Family Support Program and Home-Based Services when providing services to adults with children in their treatment programs.
  • Participates consistently in clinical supervision, peer review, staff meetings, and other quality assurance processes.
  • Collaborates effectively with the interdisciplinary team to identify, assess, and report suspected family violence as required by law, with particular attention to risk reduction and prevention.
  • Manages subpoenas effectively and provides court testimony as appropriate.
  • Participates in the development of clinical pathways, operating procedures, and evidence-based techniques, with particular attention to integration of services with Behavioral Health Services, and integration of care with other TCFSH partners.
  • Provides in-service training on intimate partner violence as requested.
  • Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development by participating in proactive goal setting, maintaining appropriate licensure, and participating in education/training opportunities both at TCFSH as well as in the community.
  • Advocates for and represents the aspiration and values of TCFSH.
  • Maintain an environment of safety for clients, self, and others and supports patient safety initiatives.
  • Support the development of TCFSH by performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Master's Degree in social work or counseling with appropriate Ohio licensure
  • At least 2 years of mental/behavioral health experience
  • Knowledge of intimate partner violence, family violence and treatment interventions to respond to adults presenting with these concerns.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide culturally responsive services in response to diverse client population.
  • Knowledge of community systems that support an effective response for victims of intimate partner violence. Specifically, available treatment services for more complex trauma treatment needs.
  • Understanding of sexual victimization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers, and to work as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage confidential information in a complex hospital environment.
