Job Summary:

The ECMO and HV Transport Coordinator provides patient care in a mobile environment to high-risk patients and their families being transported to/from Froedtert Hospital from Wisconsin and other interstate locations. Acts as a resource in the care of ECMO, short term mechanical circulatory support device patients, and vascular emergencies while not on transport. As a recognized resource, they also assist in establishing and maintaining a high-quality standard of care for the Heart and Vascular patient population. Assists with programmatic developments and maintaining quality standards and provide oversight for the training and education of ECMO, short term mechanical circulatory support devices, and vascular emergencies for clinical staff and providers under the direction and supervision of the medical director or designee for the program.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

Two years critical care nursing experience and preferred one year of ECMO experience in order to develop a comprehensive understanding of patient care within a defined patient population and gain knowledge and skill in Cardiovascular procedures and standards. Consideration will be given to nurses who have at least one year of EMS experience with one year of critical care experience. Experience in other types of durable and non-durable Ventricular Assist Devices preferred.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

Degree in Nursing (Baccalaureate or Graduate) is required.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

Critical Care trained Must pass pre-placement physical exam and meet health requirements for flying within the physical capacity evaluation prior to hire and annually. Transport team must meet height requirements of not greater than 6ft 2in., not less than 4 ft 10 in. Transport team members must maintain a mission ready weight less than 250 pounds. Mission ready is defined as your weight including the flight suit, boots, and helmet with liner, coat with liner, and any other personal items that you carry. Requirements are subject to annual review with one-year advance notice to change. In the Fixed Wing/Rotor Wing/Ambulance, must be able to lift/carry 65 pounds, push/pull up to 40 pounds occasionally, reach overhead moderately, climb moderately, squat/bend/kneel occasionally, sit/stand moderately, walk/move about frequently, tolerate tight quarters, small spaces and sit in a confined space. Preferred cardiac critical care training. Preferred experience in management of the ECMO and mechanical circulatory support devices and EMS transport

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License form a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact).
