KROC CENTER MISSION

In keeping with the mission of the Wisconsin & Upper MI Division of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center located in Green Bay, WI provides facilities, programs and services that strengthen, encourage, and enrich children, adults, and seniors through positive life-changing experiences.

SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Fitness Coordinator will assist the Fitness & Sports Manager with providing oversight for the daily operations of all designated fitness areas of the facility, focusing on land and water Group Fitness but to include other fitness and sports areas as needed. Responsibilities will include scheduling and training staff, assisting with program development, record keeping, and data entry into software system, leading and instructing fitness activities, and assisting the Fitness & Sports Manager with administrative functions.

  1. Proactively ensure a safe fitness environment for all Kroc Center staff, volunteers, members, and participants.

  1. Assist with supervising, scheduling, monitoring, and evaluating the work performance of fitness and sports team members.

  1. Assist in the planning, directing, and guidance of the fitness programs and activities of the Kroc Center.

  1. Instruct group fitness classes and provide orientation classes to adult and youth members.

  1. Assist in the operations of sports programming as needed, to include administrative or operational assistance.

  1. Assist the Fitness & Sports Manager with timely and accurate record keeping, including statistical reports related to all fitness programs, sports programs as necessary, accounting of expenditures, and other reports as directed.

  1. Ensure the attractive appearance, operational function, and general upkeep of the fitness facilities including equipment and furnishings. Assist in the procurement, maintenance and repair of fitness equipment and facilities as necessary and within capability.

  1. Serve as a member of the Manager on Duty team.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Fitness Management, or a related field preferred. Experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Two years of related work experience.

- OR -

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • First Aid, CPR and AED Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant required within 90 days of hire. Ability to obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED Instructor Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier.
  • Applicant must possess and maintain a nationally accredited Group Fitness Certification AFAA, ACE, NSCA, ACSM, or NASM or Yoga certification preferred.

  • Ability to address multiple projects in a timely manner while being responsive and detail oriented.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office products, e-mail, and Internet.

This job is performed at times in an office environment at normal room temperature. The noise level in this work environment is usually low. The duties of this job will also be performed in various settings within a community center including a fitness center, aquatics center, and gymnasium, where the noise level is usually moderate to loud and conditions may be warmer and more humid than a normal office environment.

For other duties of this job, the employee may be facilitating an event outdoors and will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment outdoors is usually moderate to loud. The duties may also take place at offsite locations and employees will be exposed to the weather and environmental conditions present at these locations.

This position requires the employee be available to work days, weeknights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
