What you will do:

The Director, EEO Compliance and Investigations will develop, lead, and coordinate the EEO and Affirmative action policies, practices and EEO related investigations for the organization. This role provides the organization with guidance related to equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and general global HR compliance requirements. This role will also manage a global team of investigative professionals responsible for conducting internal investigations into allegations of non-compliance with applicable national/state/local employment laws and regulations, as well as internal corporate policies, procedures, and standards. This role will report to the Vice President of Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as part of the DEI Center of Excellence.

How you will do it:

  • Collaborates with and advises human resource staff on EEO, affirmative action and global HR compliance.

  • Maintains knowledge of developments, trends, and best practices in EEO administration, pay equity and pay transparency including country and state legal and regulatory changes and changes to the EEO and pay equity practices of other major companies; based on this knowledge, recommends revisions and updates to the Johnson Controls EEO and affirmative action policies and global pay equity and pay transparency practices.

  • Coordinates with third party compliance reporting vendor to draft affirmative action plans and oversees plan execution for the organization; communicates affirmative action goals to EC and ELT; coordinates communication of affirmative action goals to US hiring managers; monitors progress and collaborates with management to achieve these goals.

  • Coordinates with third party compliance reporting vendor to draft and submit EEO-1 and pay transparency reports.

  • Collaborates with HR Analytics and Labor and Employment counsel on analysis and interpretation of employee data; supports Labor and Employment counsel on mitigating company risk.

  • Develops and implements reporting and audit procedures to assess the effectiveness of the organizations EEO and affirmative action programs, adherence to country specific targeted hiring requirements and global pay transparency practices.

  • Collaborates with Labor and Employment counsel to conduct audits to assess the organizations compliance globally with country, state, and local HR compliance laws and regulations as needed.

  • Manages global investigative function and compliance with all applicable employment laws, regulations, regulatory obligations, and company policies.

  • Manages the identification of trends, emerging risks, and insights regarding global HR investigations.

  • Conducts research and analysis in partnership with legal counsel to provide insight into environmental trends as it relates to internal and external complaints.

  • Leads and executes special projects and strategic initiatives such as climate assessments and improvement of investigation processes and protocols globally.

  • Establishes and builds collaborative working relationships with HR COEs, Legal, Ethics and Compliance and HRBPs to enable a compliant and inclusive workplace.

  • Prepares reports on investigations or audit findings and makes recommendations to HRLT.

  • Investigates internal discrimination complaints as needed.

  • Collaborates with Learning and Development to design and implement company-wide training programs on EEO and global compliance requirements including instruction on all forms of prohibited discrimination and harassment, as well as affirmative action and diversity initiatives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we look for:

Required

  • 8+ years of experience in human resources; 5+ years' experience focused on EEO or OFCCP policies, affirmative action, and investigations required.

  • Experience conducting complex investigations and witness interviews.

  • Proven experience in leading in a virtual team setting.

  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information garnered through investigations.

  • Experience designing and implementing affirmative action plans.

  • Experience preparing written reports and summary of findings with supporting documentation that is fair, impartial, and represents the facts; analyzing investigative results to determine whether the facts suggest a violation of policy.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively train staff and managers in areas of equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and diversity.

  • Excellent time management skills, with proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Familiarity with country, state, and local laws, as well as court decisions and trends regarding equal employment opportunity related discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

  • Ability to travel with limited advance notice up to 15%

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage high-volume workload and complex priorities.

  • Proven ability to think critically and effectively work across a large corporation.

  • Business acumen, reliability, and sound judgment

  • Strong and precise written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated integrity and sensitivity to various cultures.

  • Knowledge of best practices related to policies and practices associated with non-discrimination, harassment-free workplace, non-retaliation, reasonable accommodations, EEO, affirmative action.

  • Knowledge of third-party case management systems

  • Critical thinking capability and the ability to analyze substantial amounts of information.

This role can be hybrid from our Glendale, WI office or we will consider remote candidates living in the United States.
