POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer - CNC Machining will apply a strong understanding of machining to develop effective and efficient routings to maximize equipment utilization to its best effect.  This position will determine and order appropriate raw materials, outside services (black oxide, grinding, heat treat), and determine cost effective outside subcontracting.  Identifying, developing and maintaining solid vendor relationships is critical to this role.  This position will also use data analytics to evaluate improvement opportunities in tooling, process, batching, equipment assignment, outsourcing, etc.  The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with the machinists and programmers as well as the production planner, engineering, and assembly group.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Develops effective and efficient routings to maximize equipment utilization.  Evaluates asset backlog to determine optimal routing assignments. 
• Collaborates with design engineering to resolve technical issues and clarify any machining needs prior to manufacturing
• Assesses requirements to determine material needs, submits RFQ, and places orders for materials.
• Coordinates deliveries of parts to outside services, ensuring part markings are completed and quantities are recorded.
• Determines outsourced machining requirements for overflow, identifying qualified vendors, gathering competitive pricing, quality, and delivery information, and managing orders and relationships.
• Uses data analytics to evaluate improvement opportunities in tooling, process, batching, equipment assignment, outsourcing, etc.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Associate’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or similar area of study plus 5 years of precision machining experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent work ethic and the ability to self-direct and prioritize work.
• Organized thought process with a very high attention to detail.
• Mechanical aptitude, curiosity, decisiveness and a continuous improvement mindset.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present information in a clear, concise manner.
• Proficiency with software including Microsoft Office and strong ERP experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Regularly sits throughout the day with extensive computer work
• Regularly moves throughout shop to engage cross-functionally
• Regularly utilizes depth perception, peripheral vision, and close focus to operate a computer, computer accessories, and phone equipment
