Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for setting the strategy and planning, development, and implementation of strategic and operational workforce plans and forecasts across the operations and technology function and enterprise operations.

  • Sets the strategy and development of operational workforce plans that include forecast/scheduling staff and annual budget/headcount consulting throughout operation and technology, enterprise operations and beyond.

  • Drives the forecasting and resource planning tools and processes across the operations and technology function and enterprise operations in alignment with business strategies and financial plans.

  • Interfaces with directors and executives across the enterprise (enterprise operations, technology, finance, human resources) in the development of efficient and effective workforce planning and forecasting processes, strategies, and actions.

  • Leads the build, development, and deployment of strategic workforce planning processes, methodologies, tools and systems across the operations and technology function and enterprise operations.

  • Contributes to the development of enterprise workforce planning strategies and solutions partnering closely with human resources in order to close talent gaps and optimize our efforts to leverage resources more effectively in meeting business needs.

  • Provides leadership and strategic direction to workforce optimization efforts that provide complex staffing and scheduling resolution to minimize productivity implications and maximize the service level performance results across the enterprise

  • Responsible for driving integration of the resource planning and forecasting processes across enterprise operations and technology areas including building the structure, process and tools necessary to achieve business results

  • Serves as an integration point and escalation channel for resource planning across enterprise operations in order to minimize workforce imbalances

  • Partners with enterprise operations leadership (directors and department heads) in anticipating complex business issues, identifying emerging resource needs, and aligning and managing operational support to achieve business objectives

  • Leads and participates in cross-functional projects/teams with accountability for clarifying business objectives, building delivery strategies, managing scope and evaluating the risk and/or change management

  • Oversees the tracking and reporting of workforce metrics and dashboards to key stakeholders in order to continuously monitor trends, metrics, and progress

  • Accountable for a full range of people leader responsibilities


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, statistics or a related field or an equivalent combination of professional related work experience

  • A minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressively responsible work experience including people leadership and experience with workforce planning and forecasting

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize complex quantitative data into easy to understand and actionable recommendations

  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving, and business acumen matched with a high degree of relationship building and organizational agility

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, negotiate and influence with and without direct authority at all levels of an organization

  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and data in general terms to broad audiences

  • Strategic thinker who can see the big picture and interpret business strategy into actionable plans

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$133,140.00

Pay Range - End:

$247,260.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
