About The Opportunity

This role provides exposure to the world of work through a set of sequenced and coordinated activities known as Work-based learning (WBL). WBL addresses the shared goal of educators and employers in preparing students with the knowledge and skills necessary for productive careers and enables students to achieve educational outcomes that align with employer requirements-bridging the gap between school and work.

In addition, this role provides general labor support to all departments within the plant, as necessary.

The following duties are normal for this position. The incumbent may perform some or all of these duties; however, it is not an exclusive or all-inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Demonstrates commitment to safety and performs job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates commitment to quality and performs job duties in adherence to Good Manufacturing Policy (GMP) guidelines.
  • Should be aware of their responsibilities and their accountability is clearly defined for key staff involved with product safety, legality, and quality systems.
  • Understand job ticket information to determine quantity, special work instructions, and any other special customer requirements.
  • Maintain high efficiency according to established rates during operation of the assigned equipment.
  • Determine the best manufacturing method to produce product efficiently and effectively.
  • Stage material and supplies needed to run production job.
  • Move skids of waste and record accordingly.
  • Assist Machine Operator in maintaining high production efficiencies according to established rates during operation of the assigned equipment.
  • Must complete necessary training documents.
  • Assist the operators at various machine centers throughout the plant during the shift to fill in as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and assist with decisions regarding the quality of product.
  • Complete required quality inspections and paperwork.
  • Work with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance.
  • Play an active role in the maintenance and cleanliness of the equipment and surrounding area.
  • Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system and job reporting requirements.
  • Actively participates in Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Safety sensitive position - ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
  • Ability to effectively work in teams Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles.

Education/Certification:

  • Active participation in youth apprenticeship program.
