Job Description

Assist Pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services at Amery Hospital & Clinic, Hudson Hospital, and Westfield's Hospital & Clinic as scheduled.

Accountabilities/Duties:

  • Complies with state and federal regulations regarding non-pharmacist limitations.
  • Complies with all hospital-wide policies and departmental policies.
  • Accepts responsibility for personal safety and safety of others.
  • Purchases and returns pharmaceuticals and supplies as needed.
  • Verifies order received matches the order sent. Notifies pharmacist when there
    is a discrepancy
  • Correctly places items into pharmacy stock.
  • Assists in maintaining perpetual inventory of all schedule II drugs.
  • Stocks pharmacy with supplies from purchasing and miscellaneous vendors
    when needed.
  • Assists in accountability and security of all medications.
  • Accurately packages bulk supplies into unit dose containers and labels
    accordingly.
  • Accurately fills and labels prescriptions.
  • Ability to use personal computer and printer, calculator, and/or miscellaneous
    compounding equipment.
  • Does not dispense any legend pharmaceutical products to any patient.
  • Makes suggestions to Pharmacy Manager regarding improvement of services
    including suggestions and information received from customers.
  • Demonstrates awareness of all customers. Attempts to meet and exceed all
    customer needs.
  • Interacts and provides assistance in a respectful manner, considerate of age and
    physical abilities (i.e. sight and hearing needs). This includes answering the
    telephone promptly and in a professional manner.
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement activities.
  • Helps formulate annual departmental plan.
  • Participates in educational activities to keep knowledge current (i.e. meetings,
    programs, read current literature, etc).
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager or Staff
    Pharmacist.
  • Files prescriptions and other pharmacy forms correctly
  • Demonstrates ability to plan, prioritize, and accomplish work, sets and meets
    goals, follows through, and maximizes efficiency of department. Demonstrates ability to get along with others, has effective interpersonal skills, is aware of impact of self on others, and maintains communication within
    department and other departments.
  • Has problem analysis and solving skills, shows common sense, and exhibits
    creative thinking, good judgment, and decisiveness.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma
  • Must be registered or registration submitted as a Pharmacy Technician in Wisconsin by hire date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy Technician certification
  • Current or recent hospital and/or retail pharmacy technician experience
