Job Title: Training and Leadership Director
Reports to: Coordinated Campaign Director
Salary: $7,000/month, generous benefits package
Location: Madison or Milwaukee, WI (Please note: Employment with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin requires residence or willingness to relocate to the state of Wisconsin.)
Start date: Spring 2024

The Opportunity: The Wisconsin Coordinated Campaign is looking for a Training & Leadership Director to grow and scale the impact of our organizing program. The Training & Leadership Director will be responsible for working with the Organizing team to ensure the training needs of volunteers, staff, campaigns and voters are met. The Training & Leadership Director will work closely with the Coordinated Campaign Director to support our organizing team and will find opportunities to increase the overall quality of our work through training in support of our mission to help the largest possible number of voters participate in the electoral process.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute training strategy and campaign for the 2024 election cycle, integrating the plan into existing Organizing and Wisconsin Coordinated Campaign structures.
  • Advise the senior management team on the structure, needs, and overall training strategy.
  • Produce training materials, webinars, self-guided training modules and all core training materials for the 2024 election.
  • Create training and materials for diverse audiences including producing content and hosting training.
  • Create and sustain online training communities that increase volunteer participation.
  • Work across departments to identify opportunities that fill training holes and expand reach.
  • Liaise and coordinate with Biden for President on national training programs and resources.
  • Produce reports and feedback summaries to ensure successful achievement of statewide goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Manage direct reports in all aspects of their work and support their success in the role by conducting relevant coaching conversations, providing and receiving feedback, and creating an inclusive and engaging team culture. More specific tasks could include but are not limited to:
    • Managing and reviewing time off requests
    • Hiring new team members
    • Having constructive conversations with team members on performance
    • Building rapport and trust within your team
    • Leading projects and delegating tasks
  • On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.

  • Proven Training Experience - Able to train on a wide variety of topics in an engaging and effective manner to a broad range of audiences and skill levels; has experience developing engaging and effective training content and training the trainer programs.
  • Strong Communication Skills - Can connect with others, regardless of medium, to quickly gain trust and motivate volunteers, staff, community members, and coalition partners.
  • Project Management Skills - Able to build and execute projects from beginning to end and to work on multiple projects simultaneously while handling competing priorities.
  • Collaborative Mindset - Has commitment to a multi-department approach to training.
  • Adaptable Thinker - Able to think on your feet and give good answers to participant questions.
  • Design Ability - Has the skill to create high-quality content, including graphics, video, and text, rapidly and on-message.

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Knowledge of Wisconsin/Midwestern politics.
  • While campaign experience is a plus, we are also willing to consider highly qualified candidates with non-campaign backgrounds.
  • Spanish language fluency.
