Job Description
Job Summary:

The McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research is searching for two faculty candidates at the tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor level whose research is focused on understanding how viruses cause human cancer through basic research on mechanisms by which viruses alter the host cells they infect to persist and cause cancer. Human viruses cause approximately 15% of human cancers. Knowledge gained through their study impacts not only our understanding of virally caused cancers but also other cancers. Successful candidates should demonstrate a proven record of studying one or more tumor viruses and demonstrate that they have the potential to establish a productive, extramurally funded research program. Successful candidates also need to describe how they will contribute to mentoring and teaching undergraduate, graduate and professional students, as this is fundamental to our academic mission. Successful candidates will also be expected to participate in professional, university, and community service appropriate to rank. The new hires for these positions will move into an extremely strong, supportive research environment. Our institution has a large number of virologists, including many tumor virologists, who are highly interactive and collaborative.
