Position Summary:

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications to fill a tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor in electrical engineering specialized in Power and Energy. The candidate is expected to start in August 2024. This position will teach, conduct research, provide community and university service. Salary for this position starts at $73,000. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Candidates that have experience in online instruction, research and teaching related to Power and Energy are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility will be to teach undergraduate courses that include laboratory sections. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting research and seeking extramural funding; developing curriculum; advising students; advising student organizations; participating in outreach including visits to industry and recruiting local students; and participating in department, college, and university service committees. The applicant is expected to teach some of the courses using alternative delivery methods including distance education.

Requirements:

  • PhD to be completed before August 2024.
  • Doctoral studies in electrical engineering, or a closely related field in power and energy.
  • Ability to teach introductory courses in Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to teach mid- and upper-level courses in Power and Energy and Renewable Energy Systems area.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

The main program is housed on the UW-Platteville campus with additional site at the UW-Oshkosh Fox Cities campus. While instruction is done in-person, we also offer courses via online asynchronous modality.
