As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Tax Director to join our team based in Milwaukee, WI in our new office located in the 3rd Ward.

 

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Corporate Controller, the Tax Director will manage overall tax compliance, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and/or foreign tax laws.  The Tax Director will supervise the tax reporting, control and planning functions, using both internal and external resources and service providers.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, with MS in taxation preferred.
  • 7-10 or more years of tax accounting experience with a global public company, including a leadership role in developing the tax provision.
  • Public accounting experience and CPA accreditation preferred.
Computer Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of products
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Communication Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to explain and justify recommendations to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to construct logical arguments to support tax positions.
Technical Requirements:
  • Knowledge of US and foreign tax provisions
Work Environment:
  • Corporate headquarters with up to 20% travel
Specialized Knowledge:
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and control IRS and other tax audits.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, to interpret information regarding tax issues.
Other Requirements:

  • Diplomacy, with the ability to work effectively with diverse people.
Essential Job Functions
  • Lead preparation of quarterly and annual tax provision, working with internal and external resources as required.  Coordinate and facilitate review of tax provision and reporting with independent accountants.
  • Provide tax leadership to foreign locations ensuring appropriate accounting and reporting of tax accruals, deferred balances and control structure.
  • Advise others within the company regarding taxation issues.  Respond accurately and promptly to internal inquiries regarding tax planning issues, records and returns.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation for preparation of corporate income tax returns, estimates and other filings.
  • Ensure timely processing of all tax payments, including quarterly Federal estimated payments. 
  • Maintain compliance with applicable tax regulations.
  • Actively drive ongoing global tax planning efforts to ensure optimum effective tax rate.
  • Represent Company in IRS audits as required.
  • Coordinate quarterly and year-end tax reporting requirements with all subsidiaries.
  • Develop, maintain and document Sarbanes Oxley compliant procedures and processes to minimize global tax risks.
  • Supervises 0-3 employees.
Other Job Functions
  • Stay abreast of new and proposed tax legislation and recommend and implement changes to mitigate or benefit from changes in tax law.
  • Other duties as assigned.
