The Strauss family has a long, rich history in the meat and livestock industry. Emil Strauss worked in the stock yards of Milwaukee after immigrating to the US from Germany in the late 1880’s. His sons, including Milton, started Strauss Brothers packing in 1937 to supply the local neighborhood with high quality, farm fresh meats. Strauss Brothers Packing quickly earned a reputation for high quality products and exceptional service. Eventually, Milton and his wife, Goldene, became the sole owners of the family business. In 1958 Milton’s son, Richard, entered into the family business. Working alongside his father, Richard helped build Strauss Brands into an internationally recognized brand. Richard handed over the reins to his two sons, Randy and Tim, in 1989. Today, over 70 years later, the third generation of the Strauss family owns and operates the specialty lamb and veal business. Randy and Tim Strauss, brother and co-presidents, not only carry on the proud family tradition, but, have become leaders in the move towards humanely and sustainably raised veal.
