Company Overview
The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison seeks to attract the very best students, educators and researchers in pursuit of our mission.

The UW School of Medicine and Public Health is recognized as an international, national and statewide leader in education, research and service. More than a century since our founding as the University of Wisconsin Medical School, we have transformed into the nation's first School of Medicine and Public Health, as we integrate the principles and power of traditional medical and public health approaches in all of our missions.

This revolutionary synthesis seeks to develop new approaches for preventing, as well as diagnosing and treating illness, with a simultaneous focus on both individuals and populations.

Our school's engagement extends across the entire state. We are deeply committed to improving the health of the people of Wisconsin, and in doing so, creating innovative models for the rest of the country. Through our academic campuses (i.e., the Western Academic Campus in La Crosse, the Marshfield Academic Campus and the Milwaukee Academic Campus), our faculty and students participate in statewide education and research, with an emphasis on underserved rural and urban populations.

The School of Medicine and Public Health has a long tradition of rapidly translating discovery into application, and we believe there are important synergies in our tripartite missions of patient care, education and research. The University of Wisconsin-Madison is consistently ranked among the very top research institutions in the country, and our faculty, staff and students enjoy collaborations and interactions with the full range of schools, colleges and centers on the beautiful lakeside Madison campus.

The school partners with UW Health, an integrated regional academic health system that consistently receives major national awards and recognitions.

Our Institute for Clinical and Translational Research creates vital connections between basic discovery and clinical/translational research, and represents a partnership between the School of Medicine and Public Health, other UW-Madison schools (e.g., the College of Engineering, the School of Nursing, the School of Pharmacy and the School Veterinary Medicine) and the Marshfield Clinic.

The Wisconsin Partnership Program, created through a generous endowment when Blue Cross and Blue Shield United of Wisconsin converted to a for-profit organization, seeks to improve the health of the public and reduce disparities by supporting innovative programs in research, education and community partnerships. Together, these relationships afford students, teachers and researchers unique opportunities for professional and academic development.
