A Family Owned Business

In the fall of 1982, Carol Stotlar was a senior accountant with a regional accounting firm located in Madison, Wisconsin providing tax preparation and accounting services. She had graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Master’s Degree in accounting and was specializing in tax research, tax planning and tax return preparation. She was a single mom with an 8-year-old daughter, Liza.

Brian Stotlar was a manager, also with a regional accounting firm providing tax preparation and accounting services as well as management consulting services. He was a financial statement specialist who had “escaped” from a large, Chicago accounting practice to enjoy the advantages of living in Madison. He was a single dad with a 4-year-old son, Nathan.

On December 30 of that year, with tax planning and accounting services as well as romance in mind, Carol and Brian were married! Three years later, Stotlar & Stotlar, SC was born.

Carol and Brian have grown their practice from a small west-side office with one part time employee to an accounting firm with two offices and ten very professional supporting employees. They have experienced all of the pluses and minuses that owners of a family owned small business can face. They can use this experience to assist you with your personal or business tax preparation and accounting needs.
