WCRIS is a non-profit, nonpartisan, government relations association representing 600 K-12 religious and independent schools and more than 100,000 students across Wisconsin since 1974.

  • We defend the parents’ right to select the best education for their child and a school’s right to pursue the unique mission of its individual charter.  In addition, we promote promote educational excellence through student, teacher and principal scholarship/fellowship competitions, and represent the special concerns of our teachers in areas of licensure and professional development.

  • WCRIS collaborates with state agencies and school districts to ensure educational excellence and student achievement through cooperation, rather than new regulations and government mandates.

  • WCRIS advocates for private school transportation, equitable participation for our students and teachers in state and federal government programs to which they are entitled, and secures access to available public resources, when applicable.

  • WCRIS hosts annual professional development conferences for its teachers and principals, and provides technical assistance to its schools on state and federal education programs and opportunities.

  • WCRIS is a charter member of the Council for American Private Education (CAPE), our affiliate on federal government issues, and actively participates in efforts to ensure educational equity for our students and schools on a federal level.
