Since we opened our doors in 1984, the Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee has been keeping families close by providing more than 38,000 family stays.

These families come from 569 Wisconsin communities, all 50 states, and many countries around the world whose children are receiving medical care at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin or other area hospitals. In 2016 we provided nearly 2,000 family stays. We offer a place to call home at little or no cost, so families can stay together. Many families try to contribute what they can—even if it’s the suggested $20 a night donation. In reality, our cost is $90 per night.

No one is ever turned away for their inability to pay.

The House is more than just a place to stay. We offer families therapeutic programming, a comprehensive meal program, comfortable community spaces and so much more. A team of over 550 volunteers and a small dedicated staff are always ready to do whatever it takes to make a family’s stay a little easier. Living in a community, side by side, families form friendships and support one another through difficult times. With our expansion we hope to never turn away another family who needs a “home away from home.”

In fall 2014 RMHC Eastern Wisconsin completed a four story, 26,400 square foot expansion with 32 additional guest rooms which allows us to serve up to 70 families each night!

The expansion included:

• New entrance and reception area
• Fitness center
• Music room
• Study and computer room
• Expanded and remodeled dining facilities to accommodate families and our Family Meal Program
• 34,000 square foot attached two level parking structure
• Pedestrian bridge that links RMHC with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin
