Position Overview
Prepare and teach one (1) section of HURE 4003, Employment Law, 3 credits.
Course Description: Provides an overview of the major federal laws which regulate human resources management, as well as common law. Topics include wrongful discharge, privacy, defamation, negligent hiring, Title VII, affirmative action, the Americans with Disabilities Act, ERISA, Workers’ Compensation, and the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Provides human resource managers and line supervisors with a sufficient working knowledge of these laws to reduce the risk of imposing legal liability on their employers by their own actions and to minimize liability for questionable or unlawful acts of company agents through prompt and effective action.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare a well-organized syllabus and teaching plan that clearly reflects the course objectives as well as expectations, conduct well-prepared class sessions that effectively deliver the course content and engages students, administer meaningful and relevant assignments, and grade students’ work with an emphasis on student development.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Masters Degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Teaching experience in the relevant area at the university level or professional training experience strongly preferred.
