Overview

As an employee at MEC, you will perform certain general accounting functions involving the general ledger, month-end closing, technical accounting and consolidated financial reporting.  You will also assist with SEC reporting, investor relations, financial planning and analysis and management/Board of Director reporting, as well as help support the Company’s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.  The Corporate Senior Accountant performs a variety of professional accounting work and financial analysis of above average difficulty.  The role is to provide timely and accurate generation of monthly financial and operational financial statements, financial analysis, quarterly external financial reporting and audit support for internal and external stakeholders of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Performs day to day accounting of the general ledger.
  • Performs and reviews certain account reconciliations.
  • Participates in the timely and accurate month end close process and subsequent report generation, as well as forecast and budget.
  • Performs complex analysis with proposing of journal entries, as well as review of journal entries.
  • Challenges the business with a continuous improvement mindset to achieve effective and efficient workflow within the accounting group and other functional areas of the business.
  • Provides guidance where requested and responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs of external and internal stakeholders.
  • Understands and executes financial reporting with knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Performs technical accounting research and documents the company’s accounting position clearly and with proper support.
  • Assists in SEC financial reporting to meet quarterly filing requirements.
  • Prepares responses and compiles supporting documentation with annual audit preparation of financial documents as needed.
  • Contributes to the company’s SOX compliance and provides integrity around the financial statements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements preferred
  • Computer proficiency with MS office software applications.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects quickly and accurately.
  • Strong leadership presence and is self-motivated, self-managed and a driver of results.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must have good organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to meet deadlines with appropriate attention to detail in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.
  • Highly engaged individual who is motivated to succeed.
