Description


Under general supervision of the Manager Recruitment Department, Milwaukee Campus, to assist prospective students in the enrollment process by providing advice and information on enrollment requirements and procedures; and to assist students applying for admission. Provides assistance and support in recruitment, enrollment and retention and placement testing process by coordinating outreach services for various programs and representing MATC in orientations, high schools, businesses, community based organizations, the community at large, and while on-campus.  Diversified work requiring knowledge of Student Services, while utilizing judgement, analysis and decision making within established procedures is to be expected. Minimal supervision with guidance on using established protocols while occasionally referring to the manager for policy clarification or interpretation. Works with other professionals in a team environment to reach enrollment goals.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represents MATC at high schools, businesses, community based organizations, the community at large, and while on-campus to prospective students, their families, and other relevant influencers. 
  • Performs initial interviewing and screening of prospective students applying for admission to MATC; guides prospective students to relevant selected programs by providing enrollment requirements, necessary documentation needed and financial aid information.
  • Serves as primary contact for prospective students though website inquiries, high schools, community outreach activities, and marketing-generated application leads. 
  • Develops and promotes or attends special events to generate admissions applications through high schools, community based organizations, and employers. Events may be held virtually or in-person. 
  • Facilitates connecting recent applicants to next steps in the admissions process to aid in application completion. 
  • Assists students in identifying funding sources for their post-secondary education such as researching and applying for scholarships. 
  • Promotes Promise programs and serves as primary contact for all Promise applicants. 
  • Utilizes CRM technology to track generated leads and “started” applications. 
  • Explains career sheets and/or program information to applicants; may serve as language interpreter to assure understanding of program requirements and the various career opportunities at MATC. 
  • Provides a connection to specialized services at the college to a variety of unique and diverse populations such as veterans, incarcerated/re-entry individuals, bilingual students, etc. 
  • Provides logistical support for open houses and other college recruitment events district wide. 
  • Provides information about services available to students at MATC; works close with referrals and applicable counselors and other support stuff. 
  • Identifies students in need of student planning, accommodations, and/or counseling; refers applicants in need of support services to Counselors, Student Accommodations, community based organizations/agencies, or to other MATC student services.
  • Assists students with course selection, identification of course availability, program changes, filled programs, etc. 
  • Provides tours of MATC campuses to prospective students and groups; assists with student orientations, and enrollment events. 
  • May assist in testing for academic placement. 
  • Works collaboratively with Marketing and Communications to develop marketing assets to aid in recruitment of new students. 
  • Generates informational data; keeps records and data. 
  • May represent MATC in advisory boards, committees in the public, private, business or community sector. 
  • Participates in in-service training, workshops, and other educational activities as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education:        Bachelor’s degree in Education, Behavioral or Social Sciences,
Business, Marketing or a closely related field.

Required Experience:     Two (2) years occupational experience in the area of recruitment (student or employment) or direct sales and marketing.      

Preferred Experience:     Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in related activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of general entry admissions and enrollment procedures.
  • General knowledge of community based organizations/agencies structure and services.
  • Working knowledge of marketing principles to guide behavior and decisions.
  • Excellent organizing skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands including coordination of events with multiple teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means while projecting an image of high professionalism. Must possess a high caliber of customer services skills in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships with MATC staff, faculty, students, representatives from outside agencies, business community and the general public.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, structure, and deliver public presentations to a variety of groups.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, and as a team member.
  • Ability to access and disseminate information using computers and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license, vehicle, and proof of auto insurance.

Physical Demands:  
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., carry, and push up to 20 lbs. and ability pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, hear and speak.
  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: 75% of time spent sitting, 20% of time standing, and 5% of time walking.
 

Supplemental Information

Start Date:  This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction and Transportation pathway and is funded through Meeting Manufacturing Workforce Demand in Welding and is available immediately.

Hours/Location:  This is a limited term employment position, with funding through June 30, 2026. The role is part-time, 19 hours per week, and a .5 FTE position. Flexible hours are available. Candidate must have the ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends and travel. 

Salary:  Hourly rate is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2023/2024 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.

Health Insurance 
  • MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types:
    • Low Deductible PPO
    • High Deductible PPO
  • Upon selection, the coverage begins the first of the month following start date. You will have 30 days from your start date to enroll.
  • MATC contributes a generous percentage towards medical insurance premium. 
  • Both medical plans include prescription drug coverage at no additional cost to employees.
  • Employees are offered an option to enroll in a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) with the selection of the Low Deductible PPO plan.
  •  Employees are offered an option to enroll in a Health Savings Account (HSA) with the selection of the High Deductible PPO plan with employer contributions.
Dental Insurance
  • MATC offers a group dental plan through Delta Dental.
  • Upon selection, the dental insurance plan coverage begins the first of the month following start date. 
  • Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and has an orthodontic benefit for dependents up to age 19.
Vision Insurance
  • MATC offers a group vision plan through Superior Vision..Upon selection, the vision insurance plan coverage begins the first of the month following start date.
  • Plan covers eye exam, frames, lenses and contact lenses.
Group Life Insurance 
  • MATC offers group term life insurance benefits through Madison National Life Insurance Company effective the first of the month of start date and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is based upon the employee’s annual earnings rounded to the higher $1,000.00. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death. 
  • Supplemental Life Insurance is also available at group rates for employees, spouses, and dependents to purchase. 
Long-Term Disability
  • MATC offers long-term disability insurance through Madison National Life Company after 30 days of employment and is fully paid for by the College.   Benefits provided are equal to 66 2/3% of base monthly earnings.
Flexible Spending Accounts
  • MATC offers two types of Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA):
    • Health Care FSA
    • Dependent Care FSA
  • This type of benefit allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars per calendar year for a variety of medical, dental, and vision expenses (for a Health Care FSA) and for day care expenses for children under 13 or family members that are dependent on you for more than half their support (for a Dependent Care FSA) up to a maximum amount.
Retirement Savings
  • Regular full-time employees of MATC who are hired for greater than 12 months become members of the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS)’s pension system as of day one of employment. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.8%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.8% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf. Contribution rates are subject to change annually as set by the State.
  • In addition to the WRS pension account, employees may enroll in other optional retirement savings plan such as a 403(b) account or a 457 account on a pre-tax or post-tax basis.
Sick Leave
  • MATC offers employees a generous sick leave plan per year.  
  • Each employee may accumulate up to 165 days of full sick leave with an unlimited accumulation of half pay sick leave. 
Vacation
  • MATC offers a vacation policy to employees for the purpose of rest and relaxation.  
  • Vacation is earned at a generous rate each year of employment. (Not available for Instructors)
Paid & Flexible (Floating) Holidays
  • MATC offers 12 paid holidays for non-Faculty positions and 7 paid holidays for Faculty positions.
  • MATC provides two flexible (floating) holidays per employee per year. (Not available for Instructors).
Tuition Benefits:
  • Employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement and waiver after completing probationary period. 
  • Amount allowed per fiscal year is 18 credits at MATC or $1,400 at other accredited institutions.
